The annual meeting of the Friends of Waldoboro Public Library will be held Tuesday, Sept. 7 at the library. The event will begin with a pizza dinner at 5:30 p.m. followed by the meeting at 6:15 p.m. Members of the Friends of Waldoboro Public Library are encouraged to attend and bring a salad or brownies. Please RSVP by Sept. 4 in person at the library or by calling 832-4484.

At 7 p.m. members of the friends group and the public are invited to a slideshow/talk titled “Teaching Children Around The World” presented by Waldoboro resident Linda Robbins. In the United States every child has the opportunity to attend school, learn to read and empower their lives for the future. In many countries this is only a dream.

Robbins has had the privilege of training teachers, helping to change educational policy and teach children throughout Africa and Haiti. “I gave all of my knowledge, experience and energy to each person I met, yet every time I boarded the plane back to the U.S., I brought home with me far more than I left with,” Robbins said. The public is encouraged to attend this free program at the library.
