The Penobscot Bay Singers will begin rehearsals for the December concert series on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. in the parish hall of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 98 Court St.

The Belfast-area chorus, now in its 37th year, performs three concerts annually: two featuring classical and liturgical music; and one, an evening of pops.

The major work for the Dec. 10, 11 and 12 concerts will be Stephen Paulus’ “Three Nativity Carols,” which are written for chorus, harp and oboe. Richard Dostie is the music director and Linnea Johnson is the accompanist for the group, which averages 36 singers most years.

More tenors and baritones are welcome, and tryouts will follow the first rehearsal, at 9 p.m. For more information about joining the chorus, call Mary Ann Valaitis at 567-4321 or send e-mail to M_valaitis@yahoo.com.
