The volunteers of the Camden Public Library will organize and host an August Indoor Book Sale during the weekend of Aug. 28 and Aug. 29. The Picker Room will be filled with hundreds of books from dozens of categories. The sale begins Saturday, Aug. 28 at 9:30 a.m. Included in this sale will be a large variety of knitting and quilting books, a healthy selection of art books, interesting Maine books including books about Camden’s history, and more.

“We have loads of CDs, DVDs and VHS tapes available for sale as well as a great selection of fiction books and loads of children’s books and collectibles,” said Don White, the book sale chairman.

Hours for the sale are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29.

“Before recycling was in vogue and the green theme was in fashion, the Camden Public Library’s book sales were recycling books from one reader to another,” White said. “We are very fortunate to have such giving patrons — those who donate books and those who buy them at our sales. Each year our six book sales sell more than 12,000 volumes.”

Anyone interested in volunteering can sign up at the library’s circulation desk. Books can be donated at any time throughout the year. Donations may be brought to the library or large donation pick-ups may be scheduled by calling 236-3440.
