Time Warner Cable on Aug. 24 launched advanced video, high-speed data and phone services on the island of Vinalhaven, completing the first phase of its $1.1 million rural broadband expansion in Maine.

Customers on Vinalhaven now have a greatly enhanced video lineup that includes over 100 HD channels and access to thousands of hours of on-demand programming such as Kids On-Demand and Fitness On-Demand. They also have access to Road Runner High Speed Data and unlimited nationwide calling through digital home phone.

Residents who want to schedule services can call the Maine Customer Care Center at 800-833-2253 or sign up online at timewarnercable.com/northeast.

The Vinalhaven project was the first of three rural broadband expansions the company is doing this fall in Maine that are funded entirely by Time Warner Cable. The other projects include a major plant extension at Long Lake, Madawaska, which will be finished in late October and bring advanced services including broadband to over 300 residents, and a brand-new build out of Time Warner Cable services on the island of North Haven, which will be completed in late November.

Time Warner Cable is Maine’s largest provider of cable and broadband services. The company has more than 1,000 Maine employees.
