Matinicus resident Eva Murray will sign copies of her new book “Well Out To Sea” at Hamilton Marine, 20 Park Drive Tuesday, Aug. 31 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Well Out To Sea” is a colorful collection of essays Murray has penned during her 23 years on the island of Matinicus. From justifying the islands need for a dairy cow to heroic ocean rescues, “Well Out To Sea” gives the reader a local’s viewpoint of life in this unique community.

Murray moved to Matinicus in 1987 with plans to teach for a year at the one-room schoolhouse before attending graduate school. By the end of the school year, she had fallen in love with the island as well as with the island’s electrician. Murray has been married to her husband, Paul, since 1989 and the couple have two children. When she is not writing, Murray operates a small bakery and is a regular contributor to Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors, Down East online and Working Waterfront.
