Midcoast Rotarians announced the formation of the Midcoast Interact Club. Interact is a Rotary-sponsored nonprofit, nonpolitical, international service organization of secondary school age youth. There are more than 9,000 Interact clubs in 113 countries with some 206,000 members.

This community-based club will be co-sponsored by West Bay Rotary and Camden Rotary with the intention of reaching out to the local public high school community as well as the private and homeschooled communities. Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, and help to build goodwill and peace in the world. There are approximately 1.2 million Rotarians who are members of more than 31,000 Rotary clubs in 166 countries.

This is a great opportunity for students to learn more about the community, gain leadership skills, and work on community service projects. The club will be mentored by Rotarians and club members will be invited to participate in regular Rotary Club activities.

The bi-monthly meetings of the Midcoast Interact Club will be hosted at The Rig. Located at 56A Elm St. in Camden, The Rig is a local meeting place for young adults in the ninth to 12th grades and provides an opportunity for local youth to develop connections with themselves, with one another and the community.

All interested Midcoast young adults are invited to the second Rig Round Table to learn more about the Midcoast Interact Club on Friday, Aug. 27 at 2 p.m.
