The Velvet Lounge series of Rock City Books & Coffee, 328 Main St.,  will host Awesomeocalypse Friday, Aug. 27 from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Awesomeocalypse is an evening of tongue-in-cheek presentations, music and dead-serious disaster preparedness.

Advance tickets are $3 or four for $10; admission at the door will be $4.

Why Awesomeocalypse? Because there is no reason preparing for disaster should not be super fun, said organizers. Addressed will be such pressing questions as What should I do in the likely event of a robot uprising? How do I find clean water, food, light and energy sources post-disaster? Is the Earth really hollow and full of lizard people? What will the remnants of our society look like to a future archaeologist? How might one start a post-apocalyptic jam band? How do I deal with pushy zombie bears who won’t take no for an answer?

Audience discretion is advised, as some language or topics may not be suitable for everyone. For more information, call Lacy Simons or Erica Sanchez at 594-4123.
