Angela Anderson Pomerleau, director of Lincoln Street Center for Arts & Education and currently studying with painter Ron Frontin, will offer a free demonstration of stretching canvases in preparation for oil painting Wednesday, Aug. 18 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Lincoln Street Center, 24 Lincoln St.

Cotton duck canvas and wood stretcher strips will be used, with a simple staple gun and canvas pliers (optional). Gesso is applied after stretching canvas and allowed to dry. Those who wish to try their hands at this skill during the demo should bring these materials; staples of one-quarter to three-eights of an inch are suggested. Rabbit skin glue will be discussed and its application shown.

The free demo will be held in the Sally Landsburg Writing Studio, Room 14 on the main floor. For more information or to register, call 594-6490 or send e-mail to angela@lincolnstreetcenter.com.
