Rockland Historical Society and the Rockland Public Library will host a fun and informative evening with marine art dealer and appraiser Terry Geaghan of Woolwich. His Marine Art Antiques Roadshow will be held Tuesday, Aug. 17 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Friends Community Room of the library, 80 Union St. The evening is free and open to the general public.

Geaghan is an active volunteer and former trustee of the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. He will speak about marine art and what he looks for when appraising paintings and artifacts.

The public is invited to bring examples of marine art or artifacts including paintings of ships and the sea, ship models, or artifacts such as ship carvings, name boards, scrimshaw, log books, brass items, or navigational instruments. Geaghan will talk about each item and give an informal appraisal.
