Partners in Island Education is sponsoring the second annual Vinalhaven Arts Night, in collaboration with local galleries, nonprofits and businesses, Friday, Aug. 13 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at venues all around town.

Scheduled events include a performance by the Town Band 5 p.m. at the Legion Park, next to Camden National Bank; swing dance lessons with new Vinalhaven drama teacher Jessie Grant 5:30 and 7 p.m. on the Tidewater Motel patio; screenings of Amy Armstrong’s 20-minute documentary “Site Specific: Green Earth Vinalhaven” 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.; music by Phil ‘n’ the Blanks 6 p.m. in front of Island Spirits; a preview of the upcoming dinner theater production “Check Please” 7 p.m. in front of Island Spirits; a Pecha Kucha Night 8:20 p.m. at the ARC (Vinalhaven Arts and Recreation Center), 39 High St. — doors will open 7:40 p.m.; and more.

All the while, doors will be open all around town. Most stores, galleries and eateries will be open into the evening and many will donate a percentage of sales to PIE.
