The Cause, a collective of talented young Midcoast musicians, will present a benefit concert Tuesday, Aug. 17 at the Rockport Opera House, 6 Central St. at 7 p.m.

The Cause is a group of local high school musical all stars and recent grads who volunteer their considerable and highly varied talents to raise money for worthy causes. Their debut performance was last summer for Rockport Public Library’s Roof Repair Project. This time, all proceeds from this concert will go directly to the Windplanners Fund at the Camden Hills Regional Rockport High School and to Rockport Public Library for the purchase of books, journals or DVDs on sustainable energy.

All of the musicians are familiar faces, thanks to their extensive performing resumés in local musicals, plays, festivals, recitals and concerts. As The Cause, they combine and recombine in solos, duos, trios and full ensemble. They recently performed in the Camden Parks & Recreation’s Wednesdays in the Park concert series.

Tickets are $10, $5 for students and $15 for a family; concertgoers should hold on to their stubs as there will be prizes given away during intermission. Tickets may be purchased in advance after Aug. 10 at the Rockport library or at the opera house door starting 6 p.m. the evening of the performance.
