Local artist Marianne Swittlinger will lead children in an art workshop at the Coastal Children’s Museum Wednesday, Aug. 11 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. She will help participants create and imagine using a host of different and exciting art materials including recycled paper, bottle caps and other treasures from the CCM’s art closet.

A former art teacher, Swittlinger works with acrylics and mixed media. Her work has been shown in galleries such as the Port Clyde Art Gallery and the Ortiz Mountain Gallery in New Mexico. Those who  have been to the museum will have seen her handiwork in the Under the Sea room’s beautifully painted wall mural.

This workshop is a drop-in event, free for members and included in the price of admission for non-members. Admission is tiered and starts at $5 per person for up to three visitors, $18 for a family of four and $4.50 for every additional person.

Coastal Children’s Museum is at Sharp’s Point South, 75 Mechanic St. For more information, call 385-1105 or visit coastalchildrensmuseum.org.
