The Gabriel Zacchai Trio will perform hard-driving folk and blues Saturday, Aug. 7 beginning 8 p.m. at Billy’s Tavern, 1 Starr St.

Gabriel Zacchai has been writing, recording and performing original music for more than 20 years. His influences combine Neil Young, Mason Jennings and the old bluegrass masters with the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Leadbelly and the North Mississippi All-Stars.

Zacchai’s repertoire ranges from upbeat and catchy folk to hard-driving soulful blues and rock. He has recorded five albums to date and his work has been featured on WMPG, WERU and MPBN radio stations, as well as KXCI in Tucson, Ariz. He currently is performing material from his new CD release, “Great Escape,” as the Gabriel Zacchai Trio in southern and Midcoast Maine, where he lives with his wife and son. In the trio, Zacchai performs with his wife Celena on electric bass and percussionist Gabe Cyr.

There is no cover charge. For more information, contact Billy’s Tavern at 354-1177 or billystavern.com. To listen to the Gabriel Zacchai Trio, visit myspace.com/corporatecult.
