Green Drinks Rockport will be held Sunday, Aug. 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Farmers Fare on Cross Street off Route 90 in Rockport. Jesse Watson will give a talk on permaculture at 2 p.m.

Watson of Midcoast Permaculture Design will present an introduction to the concept of permaculture design. Permaculture is a multi-disciplinary design science whose goal is the engineering of sustainable human settlements that produce more energy, water, nutrients and soil than they consume. Permaculture, in a concrete sense, is a form of landscape design and is useful to everyone from home gardeners to civil engineers. However, it is also a practice of land stewardship and much more.

Green Drinks Rockport is held every month as an opportunity to socialize, network and discuss thoughts and ideas about the environment and bring along ideas, information, enthusiasm and a smile. The events are very simple and unstructured, but many people have found employment, made friends, developed new ideas, done deals and had moments of serendipity. The event will also include a solar oven demonstration, weather permitting.

Also, Farmers Fare will celebrate Maine blueberries on Saturday, July 31 from noon to 2:30 p.m. with blueberry drinks and food.
