The Belmont-based Free Seedlings will perform the next Summer Music Series concert at the Camden Amphitheatre, Atlantic Avenue, Thursday, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m.

Over the past four years, the Midcoast’s acoustic music scene has watched one of its most vibrant groups grow from sprout to full bloom. Free Seedlings is a trio rooted in bluegrass and the music of American heritage, simultaneously exploring the multitude of directions traditional music can take when influenced by jazz, Celtic traditions and cultural and contemporary sounds. The group features guitarist and farmer/songwriter Bennett Konesni, mandolin expert Jeff Lewis and local bassist David Lewis.

Free Seedlings make for a dynamic posse, known for their soaring, rugged harmony singing and melodic arrangements. Free Seedlings’ debut album, “Uncommon Kinship,” has been featured on WERU scores of times since its release in 2007 and continues to please listeners everywhere.

The concert is free, and concertgoers are asked to bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating. If the weather is rainy, the concert will move indoors.
