Bay Chamber Concerts will welcome back pianist Menahem Pressler Wednesday, Aug. 4 at 8 p.m. at the Strand Theatre, 345 Main St., Rockland. The following night, at the Rockport Opera House, Pressler, again joined with the St, Lawrence String Quartet, will perform at 8 p.m.

After more than three quarters of a century playing the piano, Pressler may be the most popular chamber music pianist performing today. For 50 of his performing years, he was the mainstay of the Beaux Arts Trio. Now he returns to Maine to perform with some of his favorite colleagues — members of the Saint Lawrence String Quartet. The Aug. 4 concert program will feature Schubert’s Duo in A Major, D. 574; Prokofiev’s String Quartet Op. 92 No. 2; and Schubert’s Piano Trio in Bb, D. 898. A pre-concert talk Aug. 4 will take place at the nearby Farnsworth Art Museum at 7 p.m.

Continuing their unique collaboration, piano legend Pressler explores masterpieces of the chamber music literature with the Saint Lawrence Aug. 5 in a special program to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Bay Chamber Concerts. A pre-concert talk will take place at the opera house at 7 p.m. The concert program offers Schulhoff’s Duo for Violin and Cello; Mozart’s Quartet in D minor, K. 421; and ends with the monumental Dvořák Piano Quintet.

Tickets are $30 to $40, discounted for subscribers and groups of eight or more. A limited number of youth tickets for those younger than 19 are available for $8.
