U.S. Sen. Susan Collins announced that Cobus van der Ven of Lincolnville has been awarded a summer internship in her Augusta state office. Cobus’ primary responsibility will be to assist staff with constituent relations.

“I am delighted to provide Maine students with an opportunity to become actively involved in the legislative process,” said Collins in a news release. “During Cobus’ internship he will be able to learn the inner workings of a congressional office through first-hand experience. I welcome Cobus to my staff.”

Cobus, the son of Simon van der Ven and Claire de Boer, is a 2007 graduate of Camden Hills Regional High School in Rockport. He will be a senior at Hamilton College in the fall where he is studying mathematics.
