Heartwood Regional Theater Company is ready to cast for its 2010-2011 season and will hold an open call Friday, July 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Parker B. Poe Theater of Lincoln Academy, Academy Hill Road.

Heartwood welcomes actors of all ability and experience levels. Auditioners should plan to sign in between 5 and 6 p.m. Individuals who have not read for artistic director Griff Braley before may present one- to two-minute prepared readings (preferred); cold readings will be available at sign in. Final call back/audition dates for next summer’s musical will be in January; however, individuals new to Heartwood are strongly encouraged to introduce themselves and read at the open call.

Resumes and headshots are welcome, but not required. For more information, direct all inquiries regarding auditions/casting to Braley at braley@lincolnacademy.org.

Heartwood will cast most roles by invitation from its current actor pool. For the last two seasons, it has cast 20 to 30 percent of its roles with new actors. Actors who have previously performed with Heartwood do not need to audition but must indicate shows and/or roles of interest by e-mail to Braley no later than Tuesday, July 27. In regards to the summer musical, singers whom have not been heard by the company should contact Beth Preston to arrange a singing session at her convenience via preston@lincolnacademy.org.

The 2010-2011 production schedule will be finalized Sunday, Aug. 1. Currently planned are a staged reading of “Fireside Tales” by Hawthorne, Irving and Poe in October at Skidompha Public Library, Damariscotta; a student production of “Little Women: the Musical” in November at the Poe Theater (auditions, open to all Midcoast students, to be held Friday, Sept. 3); “Christmas Celebration” of readings, stories and poetry in December at Lincoln Theater, Damariscotta; staged reading of a three-play repertory in January at Skidompha; staged reading of “House of Bernarda Alba” in April at Skidompha; a full, adult production of “Metamorphosis” in May at the Poe Theater; and a full, adult production of Stephen Sondheim’s “Sunday in the Park with George” in July, also at the Poe Theater.
