On Wednesday, July 28, the Friends of the Thomaston Public Library’s Artists and Authors Among Us lecture series will continue with artist Jenifer Mumford. The one-hour presentation will be held at the Thomaston Public Library gym at 7 p.m. in the Thomaston Academy building, 60 Main St./Route 1.

Mumford incorporates ephemeral objects and visual and spiritual remnants in her art. The focus of her work, whether it be drawing, painting or encaustic, has always been the landscape/seascape both in its large shapes and its microscopic elements. She is interested in the constant movement brought on by the changes of light and wind, in addition to Earth’s life and death cycles and the constant organic transformations, which are felt but never really seen. Mumford works both in Tenants Harbor and in her studio in the Fort Point area of Boston. Her work is in the collections of several Boston corporations.

The program includes time for questions. A small reception also will be held. The series is are free to the public, but donations to the library are greatly appreciated.

Upcoming presenters include photographer Joyce Tenneson, Aug. 4; author Sandy Oliver, Aug. 18; and artists Elizabeth Greenburg, Sept. 8. The Artists and Authors Among Us series will continue into September with dates and speakers to be announced. For more information, contact the library at 354-2453.
