The seventh running of the Red Jacket Youth Sailing Regatta is set to take off from the Rockland Community Sailing’s pier behind The Apprenticeshop at 643 Main Street in Rockland.

The regatta, the largest to date, will be Sunday, Aug. 1. Registration for the regatta will start at 9:30 a.m. The coaches meeting will be at 10 a.m. followed by the skippers meeting at 10:30 a.m. The first race will start at 11:30 a.m. and there will be no starts after 3 p.m.

The race will take place on the Rockland Harbor near the Breakwater Lighthouse. Shore trips are available but limited.

There is a $20 entry fee per racer. The fee includes a Red Jacket t-shirt.

A postrace barbecue will be held at 4 p.m. and is $5 per plate. During the barbecue, the following awards will be presented: Sportsmanship award; first-, second- and third-place awards for top team finishes in each division and a coaches award voted on by the participating coaches.

Ten sailing programs will be involved and 60-80 young sailors expect to participate. The participating clubs are: Rockland Community Sailing, St. George Community Sailing, North Haven Casino, Camden Yacht Club, Rockport Boat Club, Northport Yacht Club, Island Sail Vinalhaven, Castine Yacht Club, Small Point Summer School Camp and Stockton Springs Sailing Center
