On Wednesday, July 21, the Friends of the Thomaston Public Library’s Artists and Authors Among Us lecture series will continue with author Lea Wait. The one-hour presentation will be held at 7 p.m. in the Thomaston Public Library gym, Thomaston Academy building, Main Street/Route 1.

Wait, a Maine author, historian and antique print dealer, writes historical novels for ages 7 through 14 as well as the Agatha-finalist Shadows Antique Print Mystery series for adults featuring protagonist Maggie Summer.

For many years, Wait authored speeches and films and did strategic planning for AT&T. She also wrote about the joys and challenges of single-parent adoption, based on her experiences raising daughters from Korea, Thailand, Hong Kong and India. In 1977, she started an antique print business and in 1998 left corporate life to live in Maine, run her antique print business and write full time.

The program includes time for questions as well as an opportunity to purchase signed copies of Wait’s books. A small reception will be held.

Upcoming presenters include artist Jenifer Mumford, July 28; photographer Joyce Tenneson, Aug. 4; and author Sandy Oliver, Aug. 18. The Artists and Authors Among Us series will continue into September with dates and speakers to be announced. These events are free to the public, but donations to the library are greatly appreciated.
