Bay Chamber Concerts will present its annual Van Cliburn Gold Medal Winner Recital Wednesday, July 21 at 8 p.m. at the Strand Theatre, 345 Main St., Rockland. The following night, at the Rockport Opera House, 6 Central St., Bay Chamber will present Curtis on Tour 2010 at 8 p.m.

Acclaimed young pianist Haochen Zhang, who took this year’s international Van Cliburn Competition by storm, will demonstrate the technique and musicianship that led to his coveted gold medal. The July 21 concert program will feature works by Schumann and Chopin.

Zhang also will play July 22 with Curtis Institute director Roberto Diaz, violist; and Curtis student stars Dayna Znderson and Petr Matêják, violin; and Ji-Young Lee, cello. The Curtis On Tour program will feature works by Mozart, Kodaly and Schumann.

Tickets are $30 to $40, discounted for subscribers and groups of eight or more. A limited number of youth tickets for those younger than 19 are available for $8.

Bay Chamber Concerts presents music year-round through two performance series: the Summer Music Festival during the months of July and August featuring classical, jazz and film events in the historic Rockport Opera House and Strand Theatre in Rockland; and the Performing Arts Series from October through May, showcasing a variety of classical, jazz and world music, as well as dance events in venues throughout the Midcoast.
