The Thomaston Public Library will hold a Planes, Trains and Automobiles story hour on Saturday, July 17 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., sponsored by the Owls Head Transportation Museum.

“Instead of a traditional story hour, we’re encouraging kids to read out loud to their parents and town officials,” said Head Librarian Brian Sylvester. “By reading aloud they’ll earn points in our summer reading program and win a prize.”

Participants will be given a free guest pass to the Owls Head Transportation Museum, admitting one adult. Participating children, who receive free admission to the transportation museum, can use the pass to spend a day at the museum with a parent or guardian.

The story hour is part of the second annual Thomaston Reads Together! summer reading program, which encourages families to spend time reading together. The program offers prizes donated by local sponsors to the children, parents and families that read together the most during the two-month program. Other sponsors include Lyman Morse Boatbuilding, Flagship Cinema, Monhegan Boatlines Coastal Discovery Cruises, the Farnsworth Art Museum and the Maine Prison Showroom.
