The Senior League Babe Ruth baseball season is underway, and Rockport Automotive is already clicking on all cylinders early in the season.

While the team, comprised of youngsters from the Camden, Hope, Appleton, Lincolnville and Rockport area have played only one game on the season thus far, the squad is 1-0 as it prepares to continue the regular season.

The league is made up of teams from Waldo, South China, Farmington, Lisbon and Rockport. The season will run through mid-July, with a state tournament to kick off Friday, July 23 at the Rockport Recreation Park.

Rockport Automotive is coached by Ashley Hunt.

On June 6 at South China, Rockport Automotive pulled out a 12-2 victory in six innings over the hosts.

Top hitters for Rockport Automotive were Taylor Gartley (home run, 3 RBIs, 2 runs), Chris Hart (2 doubles, single, run), Billy Ray Denman (2 singles, 2 runs, RBI), Michael Crockett (single, RBI, 2 runs), Adam Landwehr (single, 2 RBIs) and Kyle Olehnik (double, run, RBI).

Hall (single, run) and Pardo (single, run) led South China on offense.

Hart pitched five innings for Rockport Automotive, allowing five hits and no walks, with six strikeouts. Mykel Callaway pitched the sixth, striking out two.

Goggins pitched for South China, allowing nine hits and six walks, while striking out two.
