Midcoast Recreation Center will be the site for New Hope For Women’s third annual tennis tournament — “Serve an Ace for Hope” — on Saturday, June 19 from 9 a.m. to noon.

This year’s event, which is filled (a waiting list has been created), includes a doubles tourney for senior women players and an open mixed doubles tourney.

Participants should sign-up as teams. Registration has begun and inquiries may be directed to New Hope’s Development Director Glen E. Rainsley by e-mail at grainsley@newhopeforwomen.org or by calling 594-2128, extension 19.

This event is an important fundraiser for New Hope with an entrance fee of $50 and sponsor/supporter levels available for interested area businesses.

“We’re tremendously pleased at the enthusiasm for this event,” Rainsley said. “Past players return, new players come aboard and community support grows.”

As in previous years, the grand prize will be one week’s use of a Sarasota, Fla. condominium. “With other prizes too, and a terrific spirit among participants, this has been a great event,” Rainsley said. “Out co-chairpeople Betsy Saltonstall and Dale Temple do a superb job of putting this together. We hope for solid participation from our entire service area of Lincoln, Knox and Waldo counties.”

The tournament patrons are KeyBank, Cellardoor Winery, Megunticook Market, Mid-Coast Recreation Center and Maine Sport Outfitters in Rockport. Lie-Nielsen Toolworks Inc. as joined as a sponsor and Mid-Knight Auto as a supporter.
