Two people were rescued May 18 from Sennebec Lake after their sailboat capsized.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office received a call about the incident shortly before 5 p.m. According to Sheriff Donna Dennison, David and Janice Ober, who have a camp on the Appleton side of the lake, were in the water after their boat overturned.

Sgt. Mark Tibbetts lives near the lake and went and got his boat. He and Maine State Police Trooper Jeremiah Wesbrock and Appleton firefighter Austin Start then rescued the Obers.

Tibbetts towed their sailboat to shore and Wesbrock gave the couple a ride home. The Obers were not injured.
