Laticia Billings, of Hope, donated 15 inches of her hair to Wigs for Kids at her 10th birthday party on April 18. Laticia had never had her hair cut and decided that on her 10th birthday, surrounded by family and friends, she would cut it and donate it to Wigs for Kids. She wanted to give it to a child who needs it more than she did. She hopes that donating her hair will help a child feel better.

Wigs for Kids, according to its Web site, is a nonprofit that has served children suffering from hair loss since 1980. It is a cooperative effort among certified cosmetic therapists to produce individually designed custom-made hair replacements, and to help children feel better about themselves.
