Edward Wesley Matson, 60, a resident of Wottons Mill Road, died suddenly at his residence on May 7, 2010. He was born Nov. 28, 1949, in Damariscotta, the son of William Edward Matson and Margaret Mank Matson. He attended Waldoboro High School and graduated in the class of 1967. He attended Unity College and Ricker College.

In the 1970s he worked at Sulo’s Texaco in Waldoboro and then took it over and ran it as Waldoboro Texaco. He later began his own construction company, Ed Matson Excavation, which he operated for many years. He was a member of King Solomon’s Lodge No. 61 A.F. & A.M. in Waldoboro. He enjoyed people and the many friendships he had made over his life.

He was predeceased by his father, William Edward Matson.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret Mank Matson of Union; his sons, Edward “Eddie” Matson Jr. and his wife, Christina, of Waldoboro, Todd W. Mattson and his wife, Christy, of Union and William Ronald Matson of Bath; his daughter, Kristen Faye Matson and her companion Jessie Bailey of Union; his grandchildren, Jacob and Julia Matson of Waldoboro and Noah and Haylie Matson of Union; and several cousins, a niece and nephews.

A celebration of Edward’s life will be held Thursday, May 13 at 11 a.m. at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St. in Waldoboro. Pastor Jerry Wright will officiate.
