Arne Robert Olsen, 85, died April 30, 2010, at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor surrounded by his family.

Born in Pleasantville, N.J., May 23, 1924, he was the son of Axel C. and Magna Olsen. He was a 1942 graduate of Pleasantville High School and attended New Jersey College.

During World War II, he served in the Navy for three and a half years. On April 6, 1946, in Pleasantville, N.J., he married Virginia Hart.

For 40 years, Arne and his wife owned and operated Olsen’s Instant Printing on Route 1 in Northport. The company designed and printed items for clients, businesses and municipalities throughout central and Midcoast Maine. His hobbies included painting with watercolors, reading, bowling, gardening and working in his yard.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia (Hart) Olsen, of Northport; a son, Robert Olsen, and his wife, May, of Mullica Hill, N.J.; a daughter, Susan Feix, and her husband, Garrett, of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Doris Kilgore, of South Carolina; a brother-in-law, Obed Hart, and his wife, Faith, of Hope; a sister-in-law, Joan Davis, of Florida; four grandchildren, Kristian Torchia of New Jersey, Jaime Santerre of Brooks, Mindy Lancaster of Belfast and Adam Olsen of New Jersey; his great-grandchildren, Carsen Cross, Olivia Lancaster, Brayden Torchia, Samantha Olsen, Wyatt Bennett, Madison Bennett and Chase Torchia; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St., Camden, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 5, at 2 p.m., followed by burial in the Hope Grove Cemetery in Hope.
