The owner of the waterfront Rockland Harbor Park complex has filed an application with the city to formally change the use of a gazebo so that the pavilion can be rented for special events.

Rockland Harbor Park LLC filed an application this week with the city’s code enforcement officer for a change-of-use permit for the gazebo located adjacent to Sandy Beach.

Stuart Smith, a co-owner of Harbor Park, said that the company has rented out the space for events such as wedding receptions and that the change-of-use application simply makes it official. When the gazebo was built it was used by then owner MBNA for its own operations.

The Rockland Planning Board is likely to consider the change-of-use request at its May 18 meeting.

Rockland Harbor Park also has received a building permit to spend $40,000 to add 599 square feet of space for bathrooms for the nearby marina operated by the company.
