Marjorie “Marge” (Bailey) Blackwell of Bordentown, N.J., died April 11, 2010. She led a very colorful life, growing up mostly in the New York City area as the only child of James W. and Lillian Bailey. She graduated from Dumont High School in Dumont, N.J. In 1948 she married Harold J. “Jim” Blackwell Jr. and lived in his hometown of Tenafly for more than 53 years until moving to Bordentown in 2005 to be nearer to her daughter.

Marge was a sales associate for the Florence Shop in Bergenfield, N.J., for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Tenafly, where she was a deacon and a Sunday school teacher for many years. She belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign War Post 6467 of Bergenfield and Naomi Chapter 28, Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents and her beloved husband of 58 years, she was predeceased by her grandchildren, Amy Emr and Andrew Blackwell.

She was the devoted mother of Christine Wakely and her husband, David, of Warren, and Claudia Fratinardo and her husband, John, Cynthia Emr and her husband, John, Constance McLaughlin and her husband, Lawrence, and James Blackwell and his wife, Lisa, all of New Jersey.

She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren, including Daniel Wakely of Williamsburg, Va., and Sarah (Mrs. Gregory) Hood of Cushing; and six step-grandchildren. She cherished her two great-granddaughters, Matilda and Kendra Hood of Cushing, and her two step-great-grandsons.

She will also be greatly missed by her aunts, uncles and cousins in Newfoundland, Canada.

A funeral was held April 14 at Barrett’s Funeral Home in Tenafly, N.J., with interment in George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, N.J.
