Elizabeth “Cindy” Conrad, 78, died April 12, 2010, at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta.

Born June 25, 1931, in Mt. Kisco, N.Y., she was the daughter of John Burritt and Susan Edwards Haddow.

Following her high school graduation, she attended the State University of New York in New Paltz and later Pepperdine University where she ultimately earned her master’s degree in education. As a beloved teacher, for 35 years she worked at the Pasadena Unified School District in California.

Mrs. Conrad loved animals, and showed prize-winning Afghan Hounds for nearly 40 years.

She was predeceased by her husband, James.

Mrs. Conrad is survived by two daughters, Sarah and Cathy; two sisters, Sue and Debby; a niece, Suzie; and two nephews, John and Peter.

A private gathering will be held at a later date.
