Margery Philbrook, 81, born in Topsham and a longtime teacher in the Augusta school system, died Easter Eve, April 3, 2010.

After her retirement from 33 years of teaching, she remained active doing hospital volunteer service, worked at various businesses in the Augusta and China areas, and was involved with the Retired Teachers Association and other community groups. She was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Augusta.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Philbrook.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Philbrook of Augusta; her daughters, Martha Meyer and her husband, Bruce, of South Thomaston and Margaret Simpson of South China; her grandchildren, Hannah Simpson of Port Clyde, Katie Drake and her husband, Douglas, of Fairfield, Brittany Philbrook of Orono, and Kyle Philbrook of Old Town; and two great-granddaughters, Madison and Isabelle Drake.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Augusta on Saturday, April 10 at 11 a.m. Father David Matson and the Rev. Bruce Meyer will officiate.
