Valarie Coolong has joined Camden National Bank and has been named assistant vice president, commercial banking officer. Coolong will be based in the Waldoboro branch, with responsibilities for the Midcoast, and will work closely with area businesses to address their varied banking needs.

“I enjoy the variety of industrial, service and retail businesses in Midcoast Maine,” said Coolong in a news release. “It’s a pleasure to support their entrepreneurial spirit, and to develop partnerships with businesses that help our communities stay vibrant and productive.”

Coolong is returning to the Camden National family, having previously served as commercial banking officer in Bangor. Coolong most recently served as home services manager at Knickerbocker Group, a design and construction services company in Boothbay. Prior to that, she worked as commercial loan officer and branch manager at the Boothbay Harbor branch of Savings Bank of Maine.

“We’re so happy to have Val back with Camden National,” said Timothy Nightingale, senior vice president and senior lending officer for Camden National Bank. “She already has strong roots in Boothbay Harbor — she knows the area, she knows the people, and she knows how to help its businesses succeed.”

Coolong attended the University of Maine in Orono and lives in Boothbay Harbor, where she is a member of the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce, and past treasurer of its board of directors. She has also volunteered for the Fisherman’s Festival, and served as co-chairman of the 2009 Windjammer Days in Boothbay Harbor. In her new role, Coolong will report to Vera Rand, senior vice president and regional commercial manager for Camden National Bank.
