Hollis Clinton Tedford III, 59, died peacefully March 24, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Dec. 19, 1950, in Milford, Conn., a son of Hollis C. Jr. and E. Marie (McPherson) Tedford.

Hollis’ family and friends will miss him greatly. Hollis was a naturalist, athlete and music lover. He was also a serious collector of viewmasters. Those who knew Hollis would agree that he was a “character” with special charm and an irreverent sense of humor. Children loved him because of his playful nature and genuine enthusiasm for their interests.

Hollis loved his family especially his wife, Sara Gilfenbaum, and his children, Ana and Teddy; his mother, Marie; and his brother, Stewart; his sister-in-law, Katharyne and their children, Ethan and Cate; his sister-in-law, Gin and Brandon Tedford, and Elizabeth and Rick Tedford Gerhig.

Hollis had many close and enduring friends including Birch, Louise and Albert Craig, Steve, Pat, Kieran, Tess and Lily Finnegan-Allen, Richard, Shelley, Justin and Hilary Cohen Konrad, and the Seaver, Hassett and Beaudoin families.

He was predeceased by his father, Bud, and his brother, Barry.

Hollis left us way too soon and his memory will be closely held in all of our hearts.

Relatives and friends are invited to join his family for a celebration of Hollis’ life on Saturday, April 17 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Chapel on Dutch Neck Road in Waldoboro.

Should friends desire, donations may be made in Hollis’ memory to Kno-Wal-Lin Hospice and Palliative Care, 170 Pleasant St., Rockland, ME 04841.

Arrangements are with the Smeltzer Family Cremation and Funeral Service in Waldoboro.
