Merryspring Nature Center will offer Children’s Ecology Camp from April 19 to April 23 from 9 a.m. to noon for children aged 9 to 11. Environmental educator Leo Maheu will lead a full week of activities, projects and outdoor discovery. The cost is $60 for Merryspring members and $75 for non-members.

The Children’s Ecology Camp will cover basic aspects of the environment including air, water, vegetation, wildlife, and the human impact on each of these elements. Each day students can expect to be immersed in fun, exciting activities relating to each topic, including hands-on discovery projects, nature walks and engaging group activities. Students will have the opportunity to create their own nature-related art projects including personalized collages and bird feeders to enjoy at home.

Students will learn how each element of their local, national and global environment interrelates, how their actions can directly affect the quality and function of the ecosystems, and what actions they can take in their local environment to make a difference.

Pre-registration is required and space is limited. The registration deadline is April 9. To register or for more information, call 236-2239 or visit merryspring.org. Merryspring is a member-supported, nonprofit nature education center and park located at the end of Conway Road just off Route 1 by the Hannaford shopping plaza in Camden.
