The Maine Art Gallery is seeking new members. Membership entitles photographers, painters and sculptors to exhibit in monthly changing exhibits and participate in an Artist in Residence program and many other events.

The gallery is located in the spacious Old Academy Building on Warren Street, in the village. Since 1957, Maine Art Gallery has exhibited the works of many renowned artists and been visited by thousands of art lovers from around the world.

To join this vibrant arts organization, download an application at maineartgallery.org; contact the membership chairman at elobster77@aol.com; or stop by at the office beginning Thursday, April 1. The first show of the season opens April 22.

Applications also are being taken for the Maine Art Gallery Sidewalk Art Sale Saturday, June 26, part of a very busy weekend in the village. Artists working in all media are welcome but must reserve space in advance; send e-mail to michele@maineartgallery.org.

Another summer opportunity is Wet Paint Wiscasset Saturday, Aug. 7. Artists will meet in the morning at the Maine Art Gallery for maps, breakfast and bag lunches, then spend the day producing plein air artworks at many scenic public and private properties surrounding Wiscasset village.  An art auction will be held that evening after a cocktail reception. Applications are available by sending e-mail to michele@maineartgallery.org. For further information on either event, call 882-7511.
