Five Town CSD continues budget review March 29

The Five Town Community School District Budget Committee will continue its 2010-2011 budget review on Monday, March 29 at 6 p.m. in the Chorus Room of Camden Hills Regional High School. The committee met March 23 for two hours to review more suggested budget cuts. The committee did not cut anything, and restored $15,000 to the budget for tutoring. So far, the committee has cut, by informal straw votes, $398,020 from the $11.5 million budget. The committee has reviewed two tiers of suggested cuts and is moving through the third tier and heading for the fourth tier. The committee will address the matter of athletic spending after it proceeds through the suggested tier cuts. Suggested revenue generating possibilities to be discussed include a $25 student activity fee and a student parking fee.


Appleton Historical Society meets April 5

The April meeting of the Appleton Historical Society will be held Monday, April 5 at 7 p.m. at the Appleton Town Hall. Caitlin Hunter of Appleton Creamery will speak about raising goats and making cheese in Appleton. The business portion of the meeting will begin at 7 p.m., to be followed by the evening’s presentation.


Pathways Committee meets March 25

A Pathways Committee meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 25 at 7 p.m. at the Rockport Town Office.


Rockport forecloses on properties

Rockport is foreclosing on eight properties: six Samoset timeshares and one residential property on Beech Hill Road. The owners were notified that town policy allows them an additional 30 days to pay all the taxes, fees and interest due. If they did so, the town would quitclaim the property back to them. The number of foreclosures is running about the same as in past years for the town.

Swap Shop to open April 1

The Swap Shop at the Midcoast Solid Waste Transfer Station is scheduled to open Thursday, April 1 if the weather cooperates.
