Camden-Rockport Pack 200 celebrated its annual Pinewood Derby on March 20 at The First Congregational Church in Camden. Fourteen Cub Scouts crafted and turned a rectangular block of wood into a custom-made car to race against each other.

Derby cars are raced down an inclined track three at a time. Each racer gets to race the same number of races and the same number of times down each track. The overall winner is based on cumulative time.

The top five finishers were: first place, Zachary Dorr; second place, Austin Charkowick; third place, Aidan Hebert; fourth place, Brady Gray; and fifth place, Sam Hebert. As top five finishers, these racers are invited to participate in the Downeast District Pinewood Derby race in April at the Owls Head Transportation Museum.

In addition to the top five finishers, all racers received a participation trophy for their efforts. The following special awards were also given:

Best Vehicle – Not a Car went to Ian Fordyce and his car The Whaler.

Fastest Looking: Brady Gray and his car The Wolf.

Best Workmanship: Jeremy Fraser and his car Hole In One.

Best Paint Job: Austin Charkowick and his car The Burton.

Best Imagination: Spencer Johndro and his car Bullet Bill.

Fastest time of the day: Zachary Dorr with a time of 2.296 seconds.

Fastest new Tiger Cub: first-grader Aidan Hebert with a time of 2.340 seconds.
