In celebration of April Fools’ Day and to raise funds for Mid-Coast Children’s Services and Youthlinks, there will be an ’80s dance party Thursday night, April 1, on the lower level of Lincoln Street Center for Arts and Education, 24 Lincoln St.

Part of the inaugural I Pity The Fool dinner/dance/raffle fundraiser, the dance party is for those 21 and older as there will be a cash bar. The great 1980s tunes will be provided by The Awesome, Portland’s popular ’80s cover band. There will be prizes for killer outfits, radical hair and cool dance moves from back in the day.

Tickets are limited and are on sale at Grasshopper Shop, Youthlinks, Mid-Coast Children’s Services and by calling 594-2221. The dance party is sponsored in part by Café Miranda, which is among the participating Rockland restaurants that will donate a percentage of all sales from the evening to MCCS and Youthlinks; for a complete list of locations, visit youthlinksonline.org.

A third component of I Pity the Fool is a raffle for great prizes including gift certificates to participating restaurants and other supporting businesses. Raffle tickets are $5, five for $20. They can be purchased in advance from Youthlinks and Mid-Coast Children’s Services and will be sold at the dance party.
