Roy Garfield MacPherson, 77, husband of Joan (Bridge), died March 1, 2010, at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta.

Born in Boston, Mass., on Dec. 3, 1932, he was the son of Hugh A. and Mary (MacVicker) MacPherson. During the Korean conflict, he served in the U.S. Air Force.

On Aug. 27, 1960, he married Joan Bridge in Saco. Mr. MacPherson had been employed at GTE Sylvania and later Raytheon in Sudbury for many years as a mechanical engineer. In the early 1990s Mr. and Mrs. MacPherson retired and moved to Lincolnville where they owned and operated the craft shop, Granny Goose Shoppe. Mr. MacPherson was a talented woodworker. He designed, constructed, and also painted many items for the shop including whirligigs, furniture and toys.

He was an avid Boston Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins fan. Mr. MacPherson was very interested in his Scottish heritage and enjoyed attending the Highland Games each year.

He is survived by his wife, Joan MacPherson and his beloved feline companion, Bridget, both of Lincolnville; two brothers, Robert MacPherson of Florida and Douglas MacPherson of Massachusetts; a brother-in-law, the Rev. Cannon George Bridge of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Renie Binny and Norma MacPherson; and his sister-in-law, Mary Lou Boyt.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family in Massachusetts. Memorial donations may be made to the Togus VA Medical Center, 1 VA Center, Augusta, ME 04330.
