The Thomaston Baptist Church announced its Holy Week schedule and extended an invitation to the community to join in the celebration of this holy season.

Palm Sunday, March 28: Sunday school for all ages at 9:30 a.m. will be followed by a special Coffee Half-Hour at 10:30 a.m. in the narthex. Morning worship service will begin at 11 a.m. Special music will include a trumpet solo, “The Palms,” played by Pastor Sawyer. Palms will be distributed as part of the service.

Maundy Thursday Service, April 1 at 7 p.m.: The passion story will be commemorated through scripture, hymns, prayer, meditation, and the sharing of the bread and cup. Special music will include solos by Jeff Morse and Kristen Sawyer.

Good Friday, April 2: The church will be open and heated for prayer and meditation.

Holy Saturday, April 3: The church will be open and heated for prayer and meditation.

Easter Sunday, April 4: Easter Sunrise Service at 6 a.m. at the Weymouth Cross (near the Thomaston Town Landing). Easter breakfast in the church vestry following the Sunrise Service (approximately 6:30 a.m.). Sunday school for all ages at 9:30 a.m.

Worship service featuring the Easter Cantata, “Praise the God of Resurrection,” by Mark Hayes, et al., at 11 a.m. The program will include incidental solos by Jeff Morse and Kristen Sawyer, and a quartet featuring Pam and John Coombs and Ruth and David Holden.

Narrators in Biblical costume will present vignettes from the passion story. The narrators are Chuck Lachance (John the disciple), Karen Richards (Palm Sunday bystander), Alton Johnson (Thomas the disciple), Mike King (Peter the disciple), Don Ross (Centurian), and Tammy King (Mary Magdalene).

Several other church members will participate in the service by playing the role of Jesus’ disciples and serving communion as an integral part of the cantata presentation.

The public is invited to join in the excitement and joy of the Easter story as presented through word and music. The church is handicapped accessible. It is located at 212 Main St. in Thomaston.
