Waterville Main Street and the Waterville Area Art Society invite entries for the Maine Open Juried Art Show. MOJAS is a juried show that highlights the remarkable and diverse talent of Maine’s finest artists.

The show is open to all amateur and professional artists 18 years old and older who live in Maine, including part-time residents and college students. All entries must be original and completed in 2009 or 2010. Categories are oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel and other media, which includes but is not limited to mixed media, graphite, egg tempera or pen and ink.

An entry fee of $300 enables each artist to submit two entries. Fees are non-refundable unless the entry response is fewer than 50 artists and forces cancellation of the show. In that event, checks will be returned. Entries are to be brought with completed and pre-cut painting labels to The Center, 93 Main St., Saturday, March 27 between 9:30 and 11 a.m. Judging will begin at noon; work declined for the exhibit must be picked up between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. Work selected to hang in the show must remain in the show until it closes on April 10.

An opening night reception will be held Thursday, April 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Waterville Opera House Dance Studio, 93 Main St., third floor. Refreshments will be served, and award presentations will be made at 7 p.m.
