With the high school basketball tournaments now in the rear view mirror as the athletic front changes from winter to spring, there are still a few more games left to be played as many teams will be participating this coming weekend in the 18th annual Great Harbor House Shootout.

The prestigious event, which typically hosts over 70 teams from across the state and will again this season, will tip off Friday, March 19 and play through Sunday, March 21.

The event will take place over the course of the weekend and will be played at five different locations throughout the Bar Harbor area: Mount Desert Island High School, Mount Desert Island YMCA, Trenton Elementary School in Trenton, Mount Desert Elementary School in Northeast Harbor and Pemetic Elementary School in Southwest Harbor.

The Midcoast will have five local boys and girls teams competing in the high school division. Teams on the boys side include Camden Hills, Rockland Tigers, Belfast Lions, Mt. View and the Medomak Panthers. Teams on the girls side include the Belfast Lions, Camden Hills, Medomak Panthers, Rockland and the Mustangs.

The middle school division will have both a boys and girls team representing Camden-Rockport along with the Mt. View Mustangs, a girls team representing players from Mt. View Junior High School.

Last year, Camden Hills brought home the high school team championship, while the MDI girls won the high school girls title. Presque Isle and Hampden won the middle school boys and girls titles, respectively.
