Blaire Horton, a 28-year-old Friendship resident, died March 14 in a single-vehicle accident on Friendship Road in Waldoboro, said Waldoboro Police Chief Bill Labombarde.

At approximately 3:55 p.m., rescue crews from the Waldoboro Police Department, Waldoboro Fire Department and Waldoboro Emergency Medical Service responded to the accident.

Horton was traveling south on Friendship Road in a blue 1997 Jeep Cherokee. She apparently swerved to the left due to a vehicle backing up in a driveway, according to the Waldoboro Police Department. Horton crossed over into the oncoming lane and over-corrected, and her vehicle struck a tree.

Horton was the only occupant in the vehicle. She was extracted from the vehicle by Waldoboro firefighters and was transported to Miles Memorial Hospital by Waldoboro EMS. She succumbed to her injuries and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The accident is under investigation by Officer Jeff Fuller of the Waldoboro Police Department. Deputy Chad Gilbert of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the accident reconstruction. The Friendship Fire Department also assisted with traffic control.
