The Camden Select Board will meet Tuesday, March 16 to address an agenda that includes further consideration of a request from Megunticook Rowing to use a portion of the Barrett’s Cove town lot to operate its rowing program.

The Select Board deferred approval of that request at its Feb. 16 meeting. Megunticook Rowing hopes to clear a walking path and install a float ramp. Board members requested that Ry Hills, director of Megunticook Rowing, go over the layout of the proposed path and clearing with a representative of the Conservation Committee.

Select Board members said in February that they had been contacted by lakeside residents, fishermen and power boaters who expressed concern about noise from the rowers and about other issues of equitable usage of the lake.

Hills agreed to meet with the Conservation Committee and with Ken Bailey before reporting back to the board.

At the Tuesday, March 16 meeting, the Select Board will also discuss repairs needed to make Seabright Hydro operational again. Several beverage, lodging and amusement licenses are also on the agenda.

Camden’s budget process is moving forward. The Budget Committee held its first meeting March 11 with town department heads to go over parts of the new budget, and will continue the process on the next three Thursdays, March 18 and 25 and April 1.

The Camden Energy Committee will meet Wednesday, March 24 at 5:30 p.m. to continue its discussion of possible plans for developing the wind resource on Ragged Mountain.

The Select Board and Budget Committee meetings will all begin at 7 p.m. in the Washington Street Conference Room, and will be broadcast on Channel 22. For more information, contact the Camden Town Office at 236-3353.
