On Saturday afternoon, March 20, Rockport Public Library warmly invites everyone to make Artist Trading Cards in celebration of its third year creating art together in the library. The Art Party will run from 2 to 4 p.m. at the library, 1 Limerock St.

ATCs are small works of art approximately the size of a playing card, made to collect or trade but not to sell. ATCs are a perfect match for libraries because art and libraries are for everyone regardless of age, previous experience, politics or favorite color. Previous experience is not necessary.

This session will feature many work stations, so Art Party participants can experiment with several different methods of collage, printing, coloring, drawing and more. Participants can mix and match these techniques to make as many artist trading cards as they like, then add to their own card collections or trade with others.

There will be prizes for all participants who are newcomers or who bring a newcomer friend, as well as prizes for anyone who is younger than 21 years old; a K-12 teacher; a medical professional; or a professional writer, musician, thespian or visual artist. There will be special prizes for those who make seven or more ATCs at the party.

All art materials will be provided by the library; participants should bring their favorite pair of scissors. For more information, call the library at 236-3642.
