The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is beginning to have its vacancies filled.

Timothy Carroll was appointed this month by County Administrator Andrew Hart as patrol administrator for the sheriff’s office. Carroll has held the acting post since November when Paul Pinkham resigned from the position.

Carroll comes from a law enforcement family. His father, John Carroll, was in law enforcement, including as chief deputy for Knox County for several years starting in 1993.

Tim Carroll started with the Rockland Police Department after he finished college in 1991. His next position was as a police officer with the Bar Harbor Police Department. He then served nine years with the Maine Marine Patrol as an officer and a specialist.

After the Marine Patrol, he worked as business manager at Fuller’s.

He was hired by the sheriff’s office about a year ago.

Sheriff Donna Dennison has been working to fill vacancies within the office since last year. Administrator Hart called for the county to follow proper hiring procedures and the patrol administrator position was advertised.

Also recently hired was former Knox County Deputy Jim Moore as a patrol deputy for the sheriff’s office.
