Mid-Coast Audubon will sponsor a presentation on the general impacts of wind power on birds, bats and other wildlife on Thursday, March 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Camden Public Library.

Rockport and Rockland residents and ornithologists Richard Podolsky and Mark DiGirolamo will share their experiences studying birds and bats at dozens of wind power projects all around the United States. Podolsky and DiGirolamo are currently studying birds at the wind power project constructed on Vinalhaven as well as the proposed project for Monhegan Island.

The talk will begin with a brief history of wind power, including the current status of the industry. Podolsky and DiGirolamo will then focus on the environmental tradeoffs of wind power as a source of energy. There will be ample time for questions and discussion.
