The Camden Renys donated supplies needed by Penobscot Bay Medical Center physicians traveling to Haiti this week. Drs. Lars Ellison, Kevin Olehnik and Randy Lowe are traveling to Leogane, Haiti, to provide medical care to earthquake victims. This is the first trip for Lowe. Ellison and Olehnik, as well as Dr. Doug Cole, have assisted in Haiti several times.

Renys donated dozens of items to the doctors, filling a list they developed on a previous trip. Items included sheets and pillowcases, duct tape, cough syrup, paper and pens, tools, baby blankets, and other basic items.

The physicians traveled to Haiti several days after the earthquake first hit and offered much-needed medical care. Although the hospital was destroyed, a field hospital has been set up next to a nearby nursing school. The doctors will be in Haiti for more than a week.
